Scarlett Johansson in a leading role was enough to make me check this one out.
What’s It About? A woman is abducted and exposed to an experimental drug that gives her limitless mental powers.
STRAIGHT UP: Not very good. Doesn’t take advantage of a cool premise. 4/10

Better late than never to review this elusive import.
What’s It About? In a world ravaged by a man-made Ice Age, a revolutionary named Curtis attempts to take control of a train carrying the last remnants of humanity.
STRAIGHT UP: Not a game-changer, but still very good. 8/10

What’s It About? In the ruins of San Francisco, a group of human survivors and a tribe of super-intelligent apes find themselves on the brink of war with each other.
STRAIGHT UP: I loved it. Tense, tragic, and surprisingly emotional. 9/10
Transformers – Retro Review
I liked this movie when I was in high school, but after Age of Extinction, I wondered if I could still trust that judgement.
What’s It About? A teenage boy finds himself at the center of a secret war between Autobots and Decepticons, robots in disguise who have come to Earth to claim an ancient artifact.
STRAIGHT UP: I liked it (again). Has what a summer action movie needs. 7/10
Transformers: Age of Extinction
Nobody asked me for this, but I felt like I had to tell someone.
What’s It About? Optimus Prime joins forces with a scrappy inventor from Texas to fight back against a shadow organization that has been hunting the Autobots.
STRAIGHT UP: Tone-deaf and underwritten. Exceptionally bad. 2/10
22 Jump Street
I’d have seen this one sooner if I hadn’t been so busy selling tickets for it.
What’s It About? Bumbling undercover cops Schmidt & Jenko are assigned to run a drug bust at a local university; shenanigans occur.
STRAIGHT UP: Masterpiece. Maybe the funniest movie I’ve ever seen. 10/10
Edge of Tomorrow
Not enough people have seen this movie, so I’m posting a review.
What’s It About? Disgraced Maj. William Cage gains the ability to reset the day each time he dies, and must use this power to repel an alien invasion.
STRAIGHT UP: It’s great. Intense and fast-paced. 8.5/10
